P3M

Well, what a term! What have we been doing?

To begin – those first few weeks we were getting to know one another and getting used to the school day/routines.

Things we’ve been doing every week include – weekly writing, daily reading, weekly spelling, daily maths, circle times, British Sign Language and Golden Time. We have made lots of progress with our class reading books and library books – as well as story time in class. In writing, we’ve covered functional writing, imaginative writing and are now exploring poetry. In Maths, we’ve been doing a range of activities around Handling Information, Place Value, Mental Maths and understanding different number forms. On Fridays Mrs Harvey has been teaching Time, investigating different types of energy in Science, delivering STEM challenge and building handwriting skills.

The children have done art work and writing while exploring the topic of Scotland’s Railways. We have been learning about the main railways stations and about different kinds of trains. We’re also doing a bit of drama around the topic.

Every Tuesday, we have had our specialist football coach, Ryan from Ross County. Mr McKellar has been teaching skills to support Rounders and Dodgeball. We’re just about to start on Basket Ball skills like dribbling, passing, throwing and catching!

Mrs Harvey and myself would like to thank all families for supporting the children in their learning with their reading and weekly spelling words.

Thank you.
